A strong, healthy smile is a vital foundation for your child’s confidence, speech development, and overall growth. Early routine dental visits ensure primary teeth develop properly, build positive oral health habits, and stop small issues from turning into painful, expensive complications later in life.
At Park Ridge Dental, we make high-quality preventative dental care accessible for local families. Through Medicare’s Child Dental Benefits Schedule (CDBS), eligible children aged 0 to 17 can receive up to $1,158 in bulk-billed basic dental care over two consecutive calendar years with zero out-of-pocket costs on eligible treatments.
Primary teeth do far more than chew food they hold crucial space for adult teeth, help children speak clearly, and support natural facial development.
Prevent Pain & Distraction: Untreated decay can quickly lead to severe toothaches, missed school days, and emergency appointments.
Avoid Complex Treatments: Routine check-ups catch small issues early before they require root canals or extractions.
Build Lifelong Habits: Early, relaxed visits eliminate dental anxiety and set children up for a lifetime of healthy dental hygiene.
Up to $1,158 Benefit Cap* ──────► Valid over 2 Consecutive Calendar Years

Multiple Visits: The $1,158 limit isn’t a single-use voucher. It acts like an account balance you can use across multiple routine check-ups and treatments over a two-calendar-year period.
Automatic Rollover: Any unused funds from Year 1 automatically carry forward into Year 2 (provided your child remains eligible).
Per-Child Balance: Each eligible child in your family receives their own individual $1,158 entitlement.
The CDBS covers essential dental care aimed at preventing decay and catching small issues early:
| Covered under CDBS ✓ | NOT Covered under CDBS ✗ |
| Dental Examinations & Routine Check-ups | Orthodontic work (Braces, aligners) |
| Scale, Clean & Polish | Cosmetic procedures (Teeth whitening) |
| Diagnostic X-rays | Hospital or General Anaesthetic services |
| Protective Fissure Sealants & Fillings | Specialised or elective prosthetics, complex procedures |
Your child can access CDBS benefits if they meet all three of these requirements during the calendar year:
Age: Aged between 0 and 17 years for at least one day of the calendar year.
Medicare: Eligible for Medicare.
Government Support: You (or the child) receive an eligible Centrelink payment at least once during the year—most commonly Family Tax Benefit Part A.
Not sure of your status? Services Australia checks eligibility automatically every January. If you aren’t sure whether your child qualifies, call our friendly reception team with your Medicare card number, and we can check your balance in under two minutes!
